Wendy Dorfman, Graduate Intern
Hi, I’m Wendy. My pronouns are she and her. I’m a 2nd year graduate student in the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. I moved here from Maryland in 2019. I’m still adjusting to the local culture & customs, including regularly seeing alligators. I’m an advocate for the Queer community and the vice-president of the Acadiana Queer Collective.
I practice from a person-centered approach, which means that I know YOU are the expert of your life. I understand that everyone is different, and sessions will be personalized for you. I offer strengths-based, holistic therapy and will work collaboratively with you to get you where you want to be. I believe the relationship between client and counselor is one of the most important factors in therapy. I strive to cultivate a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
I work with teens and adults who want to improve their behavioral health, including depression, anxiety, self-esteem, grief, sexual and/or gender identity, and relationship issues. I’m multiculturally competent and enjoy working with LGBTQ+ and other marginalized communities.
